I wrote a rather lengthy post yesterday thanking Nick for the cookies. Of course it simply disappeared into some big electronic void when I pressed the publish button. So now I'm writing again, still trying to thank Nick for the cookies, still wondering why he would happen to use an information leaflet for "Plan B emergency contraceptive" as packing material.
Did you bake these yourself Nick? they're very good. The only reasonable alternative I can come up with is that you've held up a bakery by mistake (since everybody in Texas carries a gun such misunderstandings must be rather common) and had to get rid of the loot quickly.

Classes start tomorrow. I'm certainly taking plasma physics, but for my other course this period I still haven't decided. Of course I should have applied for it several months ago, but the rules tend to be fairly flexible and I like to check at least the first lecture before deciding. The ones I'm going to give a chance are computational chemistry, energy physics and combustion theory (it actually has some long fancy name that I don't remember). I think I've collected enough credits over the years to take only four classes this semester, if I'm lucky I can even get the exams decently spaced and not have to revisit the stress at the end of last semester. So right now life looks pretty good. Bit uncertain of the future of course but such is the nature of futures.
Today I got out of bed at half past noon, so it'll be interesting to try to wake up tomorrow. Luckily, now that I've moved in properly, I have access to my entire array of alarm clocks.

Today I got dad's help to go get all my boxes and some of my furniture from storage and the rest of the day has been spent sorting, arranging and disposing stuff. Still a bunch of boxes left. My lovely corner desk is finally re-assembled. There is no proper corner to put it in so I've had to settle for putting it against a wall and the back of a bookshelf.
When looking through my old money jar I found, to my astonishment, 200 Deutsche Mark. Apparently I forgot to exchange these back when I was getting rid of other old European currency before the switch to Euro. Of course I got a bit angry with myself for forgetting a pile of money like this in the bottom of an old jar. Luckily it seems I can still exchange them for useable money.

Just got home again from Åre. My legs are sore (though not as sore as my right arm because of a rather spectacular fall two days ago) from skiing and didn't really want to walk home from the station with my luggage at five something in the morning. But neither did I want to call and wake one of my brothers less than five hours after they got back from France.
The trip home went smoother than expected. What was at first a small worry, the wagon I was supposed to sit in wasn't in the train, turned into a small blessing, I got a bunk instead of a seat and could get at least a couple of hours of sleep on the way home.
It's a new year, even though the celebrations were dampened a bit by the disaster around the Indian Ocean (Sea?). Many fireworks and TV shows were cancelled. I went home to sleep right after midnight so I could be out when the lifts opened this... I mean yesterday morning.
I'll go sleep now.
