Another week without anything to do at the lab it seems. Which suits me fine since I had my kanji midterm exam today. I think I did rather well, but I might easily have mixed up some of those little scribbles.
Since nothing really relevant has happened since last I wrote... or at least nothing I can remember right now, I'll show you a bit of one of the more charming aspect of Japan: the engrish!
I can proudly announce that I have personally held both a gas bomb and a homo sausage, I've enjoyed chocolate chip cookies with moments of relaxation and considered eating a curry pane that containts fresh. And remember "don't smoke while walking!"... that's not engrish though, it's actually ment to say what it says.
But how many of you would dare to go into a hair salon called "Progress Hair Line"?
And for those of you who think these are just funny exceptions... you're wrong. They're the norm, to live here you don't only need to learn Japanese, you'll have to learn how the japanese use English too. Especially when it's written in katakana. Most things are obvious; ba-na-na, ma-ku-do-na-ru-do, po-n-ta-su while others are a bit more difficult to get; huu-maa (humor).
