On the topic of beards...

I never really had one before, nothing more than glorified stubble at least. Something rather obvious that I just hadn't thought about is that a beard, just like your hair, dries slower than your face. Nothing strange there except it feels really weird.

And now to something completely different: How many of you play World of Warcraft? I've been considering getting a game (for the first time in years) and this seems to be what most people play at the moment. Also would I, being in Europe, have to play on different servers than those of you in America or Asia?

Comments:
World of Warcraft is supposed to be a pretty darn good game; it's one I'd be playing myself if I wasn't already neck-deep in Final Fantasy XI.

For WoW the servers are segregated, so Europeans, Asians and North Americans each have their own set of servers. FFXI, on the other hand, has one set of servers for the entire population, so you've got people from all over the world on any given one.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, obviously. Having one set of servers is cool for the cross-cultural setting, but that also means they're probably far away (all FFXI's servers are in Japan) and so you can sometimes have ping problems.

If you wanna play FFXI, Tim and I would be happy to have you, although neither of us has much time to play until school starts up again in August. Drop me a line if you want to know more.

I have WoW, but I let my subscription expire last spring since I didn't have time to play. I'd have some time now to play, but haven't been bored enough with other things to start playing again. As far as I know, Jason is the only one from our year at Tohoku who is playing. I was in his guild when I played, but they were all much higher levels than I was, so I wasn't really able to do much with them.

As far as the servers go, I have heard that it's fairly easy to get it to use a different set of servers (just edit a text file somewhere, or something like that) but I don't really know more than that. If you're seriously considering it and really wanted to play on the American servers, you could probably look up how to do so. It would give me some motivation to get back into the game :)

Hmm, although it may be hard to play WoW with you since even if you resolve the server difference it'll be harder to resolve the time difference. Something to think about.

BTW, I like the beard, but I'm fairly biased.
